Last week, our technicians were in Germany at two anaerobic digestion <\/span>plants to carry out cavitation<\/span> tests with our mobile BioBANG®<\/span> unit.<\/p>\n\n

FIRST TEST<\/h4>\nFirst test took place at the biogas plant<\/span> of an agricultural cooperative in eastern Germany where two distinct cavitation<\/span> tests were carried out:\n
    \n
  1. To evaluate the effect of cavitation breakdown on hay<\/span> fibers and corn stalks<\/span>;<\/li>\n
  2. To establish the result of homogenization and mixing on cattle manure<\/span> with straw<\/span> in order to compare the viscosity between the original product and the cavitated product with BioBANG®<\/span>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    SECOND TEST<\/h4>\nSecond test took place on a biomethane plant<\/span> where we performed several cavitation<\/span> tests to evaluate the degree of homogenization and mixing of a mixture of different types of manure<\/span> (cow manure, horse manure<\/span> and poultry manure<\/span>) with straw<\/span>. With these tests we have reduced the viscosity and increased the concentration of solid to optimize the hydraulic management of the plant, reduce the retention time of the straw<\/span> fibers and increase the gas yield<\/span> of the plant.\n\n

    WHAT RESULTS WE HAVE OBTAINED?<\/h4>\n

    Both tests showed the efficiency of the cavitation process expressed by BioBANG®<\/span> and the speed it brings to the process to generate biogas<\/span>.<\/p>\n\n

    In case of the cavitation break-up test on hay<\/span> and corn stalks, cavitated<\/span> sample showed a significantly smaller particle size than the original one. This means that the contact surface for the bacteria is increased, which will then be able to digest<\/span> the fibers<\/span> faster, converting them into gas in a shorter time (compared to normal biogas plant\u2019s retention time).<\/p>\n\n

    \nIn case of cavitation mixing and homogenization tests of cow manure<\/span> and of the mixture of manures<\/span> with straw<\/span>, cavitated sample showed a final viscosity significantly lower than the original sample. This means that inside fermenter<\/span>, the product will not tend to separate, improving hydraulic management and optimizing the mixer\u2019s energy consumption<\/span>.\n<\/p>\n

    \nMoreover, once the product\u2019s viscosity has been reduced, it will be possible to reduce dilutions and increase the amount of solid compared to liquid, optimizing the volumes and the retention time<\/span> of the system, increasing the specific yield<\/span> in gas<\/span> and methane<\/span>.\n<\/p>\n
